I have drifted away

Drifting is rarely a decision. It is usually a slow accumulation of ordinary weeks. The story Jesus told about a son coming home has the father running before the son has finished his prepared speech, which suggests the speech was never the point.

And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

Luke 15:20KJV

The father sees him a long way off, and runs.
